In my experience, 2012-13 MBP share the same HDD Cable, the original shipped cables have been prone to failing a lot. A brand new cable should never have oil stains, wear on the wire, and should come with 3M glue applied to the wire with the wax paper still intact. I've seen some 'Mac Repair Shops' sell parts labeled as new, but are obviously used. Here's one thing to consider, is this shop reputable and a authorized repair center? TLDR flashing question mark upon boot, new SSD, okay for 2 weeks, flashing question mark again, attempts to fix, nothing, in repair shop, thoughts?

The technician thinks its a Yosemite software problem and is going to try and install Mavericks on it but I wondered if anyone had experienced this before or can offer any thoughts? So, now its in the shop and I'm letting them deal with it. I ended up wiping the SSD, thinking it might be a software issue and tried reinstalling Yosemite. I tried some stuff in terminal that I found online to force mount it but to no avail. I then noticed that the SSD wasn't mounted, so I tried mounting it. I tried re-installing Yosemite, but it couldn't find the SSD, just my Time Machine/partition HDD via USB. I tried verifying the SSD, repairing it, nothing. I managed to boot into disk utility with my Time Machine disk which had an empty partition on it. Luckily I backed everything up a couple of days before. Then yesterday it re-occured - freeze, reboot, flashing icon. I also took the opportunity to upgrade to a 512gb SSD.

I took it into a repair shop (not Apple) and they said it was a faulty hard drive cable, which they repaired. After turning it on again it spent a while on a grey screen before showing a flashing question mark folder icon. A couple of weeks ago it froze completely and I had to turn it off with the power button. I'm having some strange problems with my mid 2012 13' Macbook Pro.
